Chuck Kim selected K+A to program, design and supervise construction of a commercial building on a property fronting the main roadway in the ‘River City’ Soldotna, Alaska. The Kim Professional Building is comprised of four commercial condo spaces totaling 11,368 sf. A southern exposure provides abundant natural lighting. A unique stacked bond concrete form masonry unit provides a cast concrete wall inside the exterior insulation system. This thermal assembly provides a high performance exterior wall system that has proven to be very energy efficient. The post and beam interior structural system allows for large open areas adding flexibility to the individual condo space layouts.

K+A also was selected to design the tenant improvement of Legends Dental in the Kim Professional Building. This 2,056 sf. tenant space includes four operatories, two offices, a laboratory, sterilization area and break room. A warm and inviting interior was developed to provide patients with a pleasant experience with their visit.
